"Life, A Work In Progress" is a large scale work on loose heavy weight canvas. 11 ft tall x 9 1/2 ft wide. The center tree, gilded beyond gilded, stands with her friends to the right and to the left. A calm horizon line anchors the background. Whimsical foliage gilded and playful hold down the foreground. Floral and Maximalist, a "rain" of drips from top to bottom adds a contemporary abstract edge, covering the whole work in a play of "risk". Rich greens, shades of pinks and peach, beige, gray, white. Best seen in person for the incredible amount of detail and dot work. I painted this piece over the course of a few years, starting in late February 2020. Needless to say it became one of my covid projects, and I found it very cathartic to create. The delicacy of the flowered trees and foliage is in contrast to the lumbering, somewhat horsey trunks of the trees..... areas where perhaps growth must take place. Life is, after all, a work in progress.
